CAREER PROFILE & EXPERIENCE:

Mr. Joe Gallagher is the Vice President and General Manager of the Self Service and Branch Software Line of Business within NCR Financial Services. In this role, Mr. Gallagher is responsible for setting the strategy, directing R&D investments and delivering the NCR portfolio into the hands of our customers worldwide. He spends much of his time liaising with customers around the world to ensure the NCR portfolio is correctly positioned to solve business and operational issues faced in retail banking both today and for tomorrow. This responsibility includes leading and participating in various customer advisory boards, identifying market trends and is the executive contact for key industry partnerships such as Microsoft, ACI/S1 and FIS.

Such a position demands involvement in all aspects of the financial industry and as such, he spends much of his time liaising with corporate partners, sponsoring major customer partnerships and developments, reviewing new or emerging technology and architectures and has sponsored and led major industry user groups such as IFX and CEN XFS.

This year sees Mr Gallagher celebrating his 30th year in NCR. He has been in the General Manager position for 8 years and was previously the global head of Financial Software Engineering at NCR. Throughout his career, he has been in a number of technical and management positions spanning the disciplines of worldwide customer services, software engineering, programme and product management, all since joining NCR as an honours graduate in Computer Science from the University of Strathclyde, in 1987. When time permits, he enjoys photography, skiing and scuba diving.
