Som Gangopadhyay is Deputy Managing Director & Executive Director – Sales & Marketing at Gunnebo India. His role at Gunnebo includes complete P & L responsibility of the Division, planning & strategy for growth of Gunnebo & its portfolio of brands in India. During his tenure at Gunnebo, Som has developed and has been spearheading a winning Team of sales and marketing professionals in the security segment in India.

A graduate from Presidency College, Kolkata, he has master’s degree in Marketing Management from Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management, Calcutta University.


Som has more than 23 years of experience in the area of information technology products and consumer durables marketing, sales and operations management. However Som is more known for his ability to create B2B business verticals and leverage organic growth.

Som is an avid reader and is well traveled across the world. He has been invited at many forums to deliver lectures on B2B marketing. While working with different Govt. Departments and Ministries on the Financial Inclusion Right from 2005, he also co-authored a book called ‘ Infrastructure and Government’ along with luminaries like Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Wajahat Habibullah, K C Chakrabarty (JMD – Reserve Bank of India).

He has worked as a Director for Business Imaging Solution Division, Canon India, which includes product management, marketing communications, and public relations apart from three different channels of sales team under him. During his Canon days, he was pioneer in elevating Canon as No. 1 for Digital Copier in India in terms of Market Share. Som also won several awards like Readers Digest Brand Choice and EFY Brand Builder award. Prior to joining to Canon, Som worked with Philips India Ltd for around 12 years and worked in various capacities and various cities in India, in their Lighting Division mainly.
