"Sankar has 27 years’ experience in credit ratings, data and analytics, risk management solutions, and industry research. Sankar pioneered ESG ratings in India and founded ESGRisk.ai, India's first ESG Rating Company. He is also the Chairman of SMERA Ratings, world's first SME rating company. Sankar has played a leadership role in taking the concept of ratings to more than 20000 companies across small and big cities of India.
Prior to Acuité, Sankar worked with CRISIL/S&P, Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) and Capital Market Magazine.
Sankar is the founder director and now the Chairman of Association of Indian Rating Agencies (AIRA), an industry body that works closely with the regulators. Sankar served as Independent Director on the Board of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), India’s largest oil refining and marketing company. He has been a member of the Working Group constituted by the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India for recommending the provisions of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. He is a member of FICCI's Capital Markets Committee and Executive Committee of Maharashtra State Council. He is also a member of IBA's Standing Committee on MSMEs and National MSME Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
As Group CEO of Acuité Ratings & Research, he is leading Acuité's transformation from a credit rating agency to a technology driven diversified knowledge company. Sankar holds an MBA and a BSc in Physics with honours. "
